Media and Mental Health

Media includes all the tools and platforms used to communicate information to the public out there in the world. Media includes all sorts, ranging from traditional media, print media, digital media and broadcast media etc. Media is so diverse that it has the power to share the news on a worldwide level. It has the power and the ability to guide the public about what’s currently trending and happening right now.

From newspapers and magazines to television, radio, online websites, and social media platforms, media has many forms and reaches people in countless ways. Media is available in every part of life. Media and mental health play a vice versa role. In Today’s 21st century the mental health of many people have been deteriorating and going a downside level. Media’s relation with mental health is more or less complicated due to certain reasons.

Watching or consuming too much content is harmful to the mind as it leads to negativity and problems in a man’s life. It brings problems and confusion in a person’s life. Since there are 2 sides to a coin it should be remembered that consuming media has a positive side and a negative side as well. The positive thing about media in its relation to mental health is that people are aware and alert about what’s happening around them but the negative side to it is that people are becoming more and more anxious and doubting other people for the fear of unwanted news they see on TV. They tend to relate news stories to their lives and thus it bringing problems in their life inviting wave of emotions and sadness.

Mental health deteriorates due to watching news constantly. It’s ok to be updated but too much consumption also harms the person’s way of thinking. Thus managing both and balancing on how much consumption of media is ethical enough is the way to look forward too. By managing the number of hours using media our mental health will improvise with time.
