Profile of an inspiring person (Ratan Naval Tata)
Ratan Tata was known as a benevolent person, Indian
businessman, philanthropist and a former chairman of tata group and tata sons.
Born in Mumbai on 28th December 1937 a young bright mind filled with ideas was
born. He was none other than Ratan naval Tata. Born into the tata family ratan
tata parents were naval and Sooni tata. His parents divorced and separated only
when ratan was 10 yrs old. He was later raised by his grandma Lady Navajbai
Tata. Ratan tata completed his schooling (campion school) Mumbai. Later after
completing his high school, he moved to U.S to pursue higher studies and
graduated from Cornell university in Architecture and structural engineering in
1962. Later after completing his graduation, he worked in the U.S for a
while.
Although he was settled in U.S, his grandmother, Lady
Navajbai Tata's declining health brought him back to India where he began his
journey in the Tata group in 1962, starting with Tata Industries. He gained
hands on experience at TELCO (now tata motors) and tata steel before joining
the board of Tata sons in 1974 and ultimately taking over as a chairman in
1991.
J.R.D tata made him company chairman in 1991. From there on
Ratan Tata did good of a job in the tata company going from a normal position
to an advanced position with sheer diligence, hard work and putting constant
curiosity in his work.
Later on, tata even bought Tetley tea in 2000 for $430
million and Jaguar Land rover in 2008 for about $2.3 billion. Ratan tata had
made the company better. With time and experience he made the company reach new
heights.
After few years he even made a bold move by introducing Tata
Nano which was a car build up for middle class Indians and the amount of nano
was just 1 lakh rupees. A although it was considered to be world's cheapest car
but still it was considered to be a big flop in the market.
Father of Indian Industry was known to be Jamshedji Tata.
Ratan Tata's family history is a testament to the belief that wealth and power
comes with the responsibility of giving back to the society and that's what
Ratan tata did for the society. He made the brand-named tata so famous that
people even in the international markets know about the brand as well.
